Job Purpose

Responsible for maintenance functions in support of factory manufacturing objectives to include, but not limited to;
product storage, processing, packaging and distribution systems. Oversees the coordination of maintenance staff for the repair of mechanical, electrical, automation, plumbing and utility industrial equipment. Applies daily technical knowledge to improve the operation and increase the life cycle of all factory assets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (to include but not limited to)
  1. Adheres to company environmental, safety and GMP policies and procedures
  2. Provide technical support to a 3-Shift manufacturing operation and facility
  3. Supervise daily planned/unplanned maintenance activities increasing equipment reliability and availability
  4. Diagnose all machinery malfunctions for proper course of action, resources and root cause analysis
  5. Utilization of staff in the resolution of equipment failures in a timely and cost-effective manner
  6. Inspect repair activities to evaluate safety, standards and workmanship
  7. Implement and optimize predictive and preventative maintenance programs for existing and new equipment
  8. Enhance and participate in Technical Stockroom inventory management of spare parts and supplies
  9. Maintain CMMS for tracking of work order lifecycle from initial requests, procurement to scheduling
  10. Govern the procurement and actions of outside trades vendors, and service personnel
  11. Coordinate planned downtime with factory employees for the future repair of equipment
  12. Prepares Shift Reporting detailing maintenance response and resolutions of equipment breakdowns
  13. Conduct shift handovers for communication of safety observations and corrective maintenance prioritization
  14. Permit management for the safeguarding and reduction of applicable safety risks during maintenance work
  15. Participation in the development and installation of Capital Projects
  16. Conduct employee performance reviews based on competency, knowledge and contribution to the department
  17. Assist with candidate screening and interviewing for potential hires
  18. Verify the completion of records and logs for equipment and systems
  19. Maintain a clean, safe and organized Machine Shop
  20. Work under pressure while maintain an optimistic outlook and attitude
  21. Promote cooperative environment, facilitate positive employee morale, productivity and continuous improvement
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3+ years of Maintenance Supervision in a manufacturing setting
  • Extensive experience with Refrigeration, Steam, Electricity, Water, Compressed Air, Gas and WWTS Systems
  • Familiar with Processing Tanks, Agitators, Pumps, Valves, Heat Exchangers, Meters, Controllers etc.
  • Expertise in Packaging Equipment; Fillers, Cappers, Metal Detectors, Case Erectors, Case Packers, Palletizers Labelers, Conveyors etc.
  • Familiar with industrial Automation and Controls, including PLCs and instrumentation
  • Experience with tracking and improving Maintenance Key Performance Indicators
  • In-depth knowledge of the food processing industry including oils, dressings, margarines, etc. a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including conflict resolution and change management skills
  • Ability required to work long hours and weekends, when applicable
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, CMMS and Purchasing programs
