The successful applicant will be able to execute specific lab projects in a chemistry lab that produces and evaluates new products for use in flow assurance of oil and gas industry. The work requires basic scientific lab skills. Ability to learn new performance testing common for oilfield chemicals will be required. We seek a self-starting, autonomous self-educator who can integrate well with our existing multi-disciplinary team of chemists, chemical engineers, and field application experts to deliver a defined project on a 1 to 3 month timeline.

The contractor Laboratory Technician is responsible for delivering reliable test results to lead project engineers. This person performs lab tests on company products, record test results, conducts basic analysis, provides suggestions on further testing, prepares laboratory reports to summarize the lab investigations. Basic skills in Microsoft Office are also required.

The contractor position is for 6 months with possible extensions, contractor can potentially be converted to permanent employee if the performances are superior.

Responsibilities:
Perform lab tests, report test results, conduct basic result analysis.

Additional Responsibilities:
Ensure job deliverables are accurate and delivered on time.
Develop the competency level required to perform advanced lab test and fluid design.
Ensure that laboratory equipment is in clean, working condition and that waste is regularly disposed.
Prepare technical presentations for internal customers.
Perform regular audits to ensure the laboratory operates according to required standards.
Assist the lead project engineer with technical support as required.
Perform risk analysis before each task or job to identify and mitigate potential safety or quality concerns.
Participate in HSE and Quality initiatives.
Wear PPE and observe HSE policies.
Maintain the required safety training.
