Job Purpose

The Inside Sales Representative works in a high-performance, customer-centric team environment and is responsible for managing assigned accounts and procuring new and incremental business. The ISR's activities include but are not limited to: Maintaining positive relationships with existing accounts facilitating incremental growth, identifying new business focusing on branded and value-added products, and strategically quoting, contracting and upselling. There is an element of Customer Service to this position as well; Order entry, customer complaint management, return goods authorization tracking, and cross-functional communication are key to success under this title.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Inside Sales
    • Maintain positive and regular communication with assigned accounts, building the relationship and farming the business for new opportunities
    • Pioneer new business with a focus on value-added products and innovation platforms
    • Leverage buying groups to procure incremental business
    • Manage the Authorized Redistributor accounts
    • Warm lead follow-up from call-ins, emails, buying groups and food shows
    • Conduct market research on existing and prospect accounts to define customer unmet needs, pain points and identify new projects for growth
    • Set and attain territory budgets and forecasts
  • Customer Support
    • Order Entry and maintenance
    • Pricing/Contract Management
    • Customer File maintenance
    • Coordinate load-balancing with transportation
    • Coordinate with Operations on available inventory and production timing
    • Provide support to field sales team
    • Manage customer complaints through to resolution
    • Facilitate return goods authorizations and credits
  • High School or College Degree preferred
  • 5+ years of Inside Sales experience
  • Self-sufficient and solutions-oriented individual
  • Skilled in Microsoft Suite with experience using ERP and with forecasting
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Cross-Functional communication and relationship-building skills are essential
