POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT: The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for supporting the needs of the Quality Control laboratory; including sample logging, housekeeping, inventory and supply ordering as well as supporting the basic operations of the laboratory.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Register samples in the LIMS (laboratory information management system) and data entriesMake composite sample of different containers for lab testingProvide basic cleaning to the laboratory by washing, drying, and storing glassware used by chemists in the performance of product and raw material testingOperate standard dishwashing machines and equipmentOrganize glassware, lab supplies, samples, and other materials as to be readily available to lab staff. Notify management when inventories are low or insufficientAssists in the receipt of laboratory supplies by opening shipments, verifying packing lists, and submitting paperwork for invoice reconciliationClean lab benches, shelves, hoods, floors, and walls as needed to maintain a clean and GMP-compliant environmentMaintain cleaning supplies and equipment, replenish as neededAble to be trained to clean up minor chemical spillsLog in receipt of samples, file, reconcile, and organize paperworkPrepare lab reagents per requirement of chemistPerform calibration/verification of basic lab equipment: pH meter, analytical balance etc.Perform basic testing: Average weight, hardness, thickness, bulk density, tap density, moisture, etc.Sending samples to outside lab and tracking outside lab testing statusAdditional responsibilities as assignedSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Not applicable for this position

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Skills: Effective time management and organizational skillsCustomer-service orientation and attitudeAble to speak, read, write and communicate fluently in EnglishFamiliar with Microsoft Office SuiteExperience: Minimum of 1-2 years of related work experienceEducation: High School Diploma or GED equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Lab Technician experience in pharmaceutical/dietary supplement industry AA Degree or Technical Certification in a science related field
