Dental Assistant

The dental assistant will assist general dentists and specialty dentist's chair side.  The individual will greet and escort patients.  The individual will take radiographs as instructed by the provider.  The individual will set up and break down operatories and clean operatory areas after each patient.  In addition, the individual will be responsible for sterilization and maintaining equipment and materials in accordance with OSHA, federal and state guidelines. The individual will also be responsible for stocking all materials needed in the clinic daily. 

Essential Functions:
CLINICAL CARE

•     Assist faculty/residents in four-handed dentistry

•     Assisting chair side with clinic procedures.

•     Provide excellent chair side care to all practice patients.

•     Set up and break down of dental operatories using proper infection control procedures.

•     Take digital radiographs (panoramic, Client, bitewings)

•     Working in dental laboratory pouring models, polishing crowns and dentures, making impressions and making temporary crowns.

•     Stocking and organizing dental operatories and assuring appropriate supply standardization.

•     Maintaining cleanliness of operatories and instruments in compliance with infection Control policies.

•     Assisting in equipment control and maintaining dental cassettes and hand pieces.

•     Work collaboratively with other dental assistants to manage the appointment schedule and assigned cases

OFFICE ADMINISTRATION

•            Basic office support including answering phones, greeting patients.

•            Retrieve and file paper charts and x-rays, when necessary.

•            Enter treatment charges into the patient care system.

•            Answer all patient, provider, and insurance phone calls.

•            Schedule and confirm all patient appointments.



Minimum Required Experience, Education, Background, And Certifications/Licenses

Vocational/Technical diploma or Associates degree
0-1 years' experience

Additional Preferred Experience, Education, etc. 

Exhibits knowledge and proficiency with sterile technique and assisting various specialties. 
Sound knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA compliance in regard to infection control, blood borne pathogens, sterilization and radiology.
