Auxiliary Services is comprised of a diverse group of revenuegenerating auxiliary enterprises that directly support student life the Tufts community and the academic mission of the University Under the umbrella of Tufts Operations Division Auxiliary Services includes conference amp event services the Joyce Cummings Center conference facility catering and cafeacute summer housing university campus store vending parking and transportation services student access services and other revenuegenerating enterprises Program growth and development while optimizing revenue and operating margin contributions are to be priorities for the Department

The Assistant Director reports directly to the Senior Director and is responsible for the leadership management and operations of parking transportation shuttles fleet etc student access and other university services including residential laundry vending and art store

Fleet Transportation DemandParking The incumbent provides university wide leadership in the areas of Transportation Demand Management TDM and sustainability as it relates to the university39s fleet parking and transportation services administers contracts with third party vendors including fleetleasing companies shuttle bus service providers card access control and parking management software service providers etc Working closely with the university39s Risk Management office assure the proper registration of the university39s fleet and the reporting and processing of accident reports and other insurance related matters pertaining to the fleet Reduce risk by assuring that the proper procedures are in place to ensure the safety of our studentadministrative fleet operators and the proper safekeeping of university property Additionally heshethey oversees city and state annual regulatory reporting requirements serves as the primary contact for outside agencies participates in local regional and national transportation planning and development efforts and works with others university wide to weave the university39s strong commitment to sustainability into the operational model The Assistant Director will be responsible for implementing the future University TDM plan which will include efforts to minimize the use of dedicated university single occupant vehicles support the use of shared vehicles where practical respond to cost effective innovations in vehicles and fuels and encourage the use of public transportation or other travel modes

Other Areas of Oversight The Assistant Director will also be responsible for the managementoversight contracting leadership and identification of future opportunities with respect to other areas within Auxiliary Services including university stores student access services residential laundry and vending and other areas as assigned by the Senior Director

Qualifications
Basic Requirements
Earned Bachelor39s degree from an accredited institution of higher education
A minimum of 4 years of related experience
Successful background in transportationfleetparkingmanagement with knowledge of marketing communications and business planning
Excellent customer service problem solving communications organizational and analytical skills
Demonstrated ability to be selfmotivated and manage multiple projects simultaneously meeting deadlines
Excellent technical skills including experience with database management and advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suit of productivity tools including Microsoft Word PowerPoint Excel etc
Advanced project management skills including use of collaborative software to administer and manage large scale projects Advanced critical thinking and reasoning skills
Adaptability and a commitment to continuous learning
Strong critical judgment and reasoning
A commitment to participatory leadership and management teamwork and diversity
Position requirement includes working some nights and weekends in response to emergencies or in support of major university events
A professional positive attitude with a successful track record of working collaboratively with diverse populations
A commitment to the mission of the institution and to Diversity Equity and Inclusion


Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of regional and local transit systems in Massachusetts
Knowledge of and experience with transportation demand management


Special Work Schedule Requirements
The position requires oncall availability reporting for duty during nonwork hours in cases of emergency or in support of university sponsored events including weekends holidays university closings or states of emergency
