JOB DESCRIPTION: Provides short- and long-term group and individual counseling to patients. Provides for a multi-disciplinary approach to treatment plans, assessments, case determinations, and coordinating other medical staff as needed. Conducts individual, group or family therapy, makes referrals and/or follow-up after care as required. Provides various training and education programs for groups in stress management, relaxation training, eating disorders, smoking cessation, weight reduction, and medical compliance. (It should be understood that this is not intended to be a detailed nor comprehensive description of any individual employee's job content. Managers set the specific duties and responsibilities for each employee). SCOPE: Under general supervision, develop treatment plans, make assessments and case determinations, conduct individual, group or family therapy, make referrals and/or provide follow-up after care as required. Assume responsibility for case management and abide by confidentiality regulations. Provide statistical data as required by specific program guidelines. Provide training, education, and information services. PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercise independent judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. IMPACT: Contributes to the fulfillment of projects and organizational objectives. Decisions or failure to achieve results may jeopardize program objectives and client welfare. LIAISON: Frequently interacts with outside customers and functional peer groups. Interaction normally requires the ability to gain cooperation of others. FREEDOM TO ACT: Normally receives no instruction on routine work, general instructions on new assignments. LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT: KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY: Having knowledge and experience, able to handle usual and seldom occurring job events. May determine methods and procedures on new assignments. TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master's degree in a mental health related field and 2+ years of professional clinical experience in specific field of counseling. Clinical licensure or certification.
