Position Objective

Performs vehicle repair and maintenance duties including diagnosing rebuilding and repairing vehicles and equipment performing vehicle and automotive and mechanical equipment inspections and preparing and maintaining related records and reports
Critical Duties and Responsibilities
  • Diagnoses rebuilds and repairs vehicles and equipment
  • Examines vehicles to determine the extent of damage or malfunctions
  • Test drives vehicles to ensure they are in proper working order and diagnose any malfunctions
  • Performs routine and scheduled maintenance services including changing oil checking batteries and lubricating equipment and machinery
  • Adjusts and realigns brakes aligns wheels tightens bolts and screws and reassembles equipment
  • Repairs and services vehicle air conditioning heating enginecooling and electrical systems
  • Performs diversified electrical work on all automotive and related equipment such as servicing installing batteries and terminals repairing and adjusting lights and repairing generators and starters
  • Inspects brake systems steering mechanisms wheel bearings and other important parts to ensure they are in proper operating condition
  • Tests repairs and maintains automotive and mechanical equipment and machinery such as pumps and compressors
  • Raises vehicles and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists
  • Watches gauges dials and other indicators to make sure vehicles and other equipment are working properly
  • Reviews and discusses work orders in detail with supervisors
    • Job Specifications Standards and Requirements
      • CDL License
      • Knowledge of methods materials tools and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance as well as automotive safety practices and procedures pertaining to relevant vehicles machines and other automotive equipment
      • Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform necessary repairs
      • Familiarity with necessary machines and tools including their design uses repair and maintenance
      • Working knowledge of paint and body work mechanical design and fabrication and electrical systems including computerized inductionignition systems
      • Ability to identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options in order to implement solutions
      • Experience using power and hand tools using diagnostic equipment and operating vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes
      • Availability to work varying shifts including nights weekends and holidays
      • Physical ability to perform all necessary vehicle maintenance and repair activities
      • Capability to follow written and verbal instructions including manufacturers service specifications
